July 23, 2010 - Youth Mission to Creede, Colorado

Members of the All Saints' EYC and their adult sponsors visited the Creede, Colorado, area this past week to complete a number of work projects for members of St. Augustine's Episcopal Church and for several of the town's elderly homebound residents. In addition to performing home-maintenance chores such as painting and window-washing, our young people also put together tasty casseroles and distributed them among the St. Augustine's parishioners at the conclusion of the Sunday-afternoon Eucharist.

Perhaps the highlight of the trip was the meal at which the EYCers hosted their fellow Episcopalians from Creede. It was prepared over a roaring fire of split pine logs and served in an open-air pavilion offering spectacular views of that evening's sunset and moonrise.

On the trip there was also plenty of time for recreation in the form of fishing, hiking, and tubing on the river, as well as for several excursions into Creede to sightsee, purchase souvenirs, and visit a museum devoted to the history of silver mining in the region.
